Okada Rider Crushed To Death In Anambra

A fatal traffic crash which occurred at Uli in Ihiala local government area of Anambra State yesterday has claimed the life of a commercial motorcycle operator.
According to the accident report on the crash released by the Sector Public Education Officer Florence Edor, the crash was reported to have occurred between an  unidentified driver of a Nissan Caravan with registration number GDD 623 XA and an unidentified rider of a Kasea motorcycle without registration number.
The release disclosed that an eyewitness narrated that the crash was caused by speeding and driving against traffic.
The motorcycle rider with his passenger were riding against traffic when they were knocked down by the speeding Nissan driver.
Twelve persons were involved in the crash comprising 9  male adults and 3 female adults respectively.
The release had it that the  occupants of the motorcycle were rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital Ihiala by FRSC rescue team from Ihiala Command and the rider was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty and his body deposited at Angles Mortuary while the passenger who sustained serious injury is said to be receiving medical attention at the hospital.
The bus and the motorcycle were taken to Uli Police station by men of the Nigerian Police and obstruction caused by the crash has been cleared.
Meanwhile, the Sector Commander who spoke through the Sector Head of Operations, Deputy Corps Commander Anthony Ozoemena Ogbodo, sent his condolences to the deceased family as well as wished the injured victim quick recovery.
The Sector Commander however warned motorists to avoid over-speeding  which he believed usually led to traffic crashes.
He also warned motorcycle riders to desist from riding against traffic and they should always wear their safety helmet while riding their motorcycles to avoid head injuries when a crash occurs.
