Over-Speeding: Unidentified Driver Kills Boy In Anambra

A young lad crossing the road at Uli Ihiala local government area of Anambra state yesterday met his untimely death as unidentified driver knocked him down due to uncontrolled speed.

The First Information Report on the fatal crash indicated that the sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Anambra state Mr. Andrew Ayodele Kumapayi has sent his heartfelt condolences to the family of the little boy who lost his life in the crash.

The report as compiled by the Sector Public Education Officer Florence Edor reads: “Unidentified driver of a Toyota Sienna Space wagon car with registration number LSR 748 GN knocked down a male child while crossing the road in a fatal and lone crash along Ihiala road opposite Starch mill Uli Ihiala.

“Eyewitness report reaching us indicates that the crash was as a result of speeding and loss of control.

“Two (2) persons were involved in the crash comprising (1) male adult and (1) male Child.

“The male child was taken to God’s Favour Specialist Hospital by FRSC rescue team from Ihiala command and was confirmed dead by the Doctor on duty.  His body has been deposited at the mortuary.

The Sector Commander however warned motorists to avoid speeding especially in built-up areas. He also advised they should use common sense speed limit to prevent road traffic crashes which he said were avoidable.
