Luck yesterday ran out of a Bayelsa Pastor as he was arraigned in a magistrate court sitting in Yenagoa for obtaining a Toyota Limited Jeep and N20,000 from a member of his church under false pretense
of praying for financial breakthrough for him.
Apostle Kingsley of God is able mega fire ministry located in the Opolo area of the state was sent to court by the Nigeria Police Force, through its counsel, I. Amakiri in a 3 count charge of obtaining by tricks and conspiracy.
According to the complainant Saiyou Seiefa Jones, his journey started when he was invited to the church by a friend last September 9, 2017.
On getting to the church he said a visiting pastor that came for the programme convinced him to give the sum of N20, 000 and the said Jeep in exchange for spiritual breakthrough.
This he said was after narrating frightening stories of how people that didn’t give died mysteriously and how he will die if he didn’t
give.
He said Apostle Kingsley through the visiting pastor promised Seiyefa that in a month’s time he would receive what he has donated in two folds.
Narrating how the car was collected from him, Saiyou said, “When they called me up, the pastor asked how much I had in my account and I said N15,000.
“He asked, how can you be an honourable member and have only N15,000 in your account? That was after they have said that I should sow a seed of N100,000 and I said I don’t have.
“Eventually I was able to pledge N20,000. I went to scrap my account and borrowed N5,000 to complete it. They also asked how many cars I had and I said only one. They said I should sow it as a seed that I would get double of what I had given.
“He gave me honey to drink and mandated me to do change of ownership immediately and he brought one form that said I voluntarily gave out my car and I signed without knowing what I was doing. I went to a shop and bought a nylon bag and packed all my belongings.
“When I went home my wife asked me for the car and I told her that I had sowed it as a seed and she said since it is the things of God, no problem.
“The next day I slept and woke up and started looking for the car because I didn’t see it where I used to park it. It was then my wife reminded me that I have sowed it as seed to church”.
He said after several months, things were not getting better but worse so he asked the pastor to return his Jeep because several months have passed without any form of financial increase.
Saiyuo said he reported the case to the police who invited the pastor. The pastor however said he had sold the car for N1.500,000 a car the victim said he bought for N6,000,000.
When the person that bought the car was contacted, according to Saiyuo, the man said they should give him N3,000,000 before he would release the car.
But police persisted and the car was however brought to the station after detaining the pastor.
Information also had it that the visiting pastor was also at loggerheads with Apostle Kingsley who has bridged the agreement which was to share all the proceeds from the crusade into three places. The visiting pastor will take a place while the resident pastor takes two places.
But it was gathered that he breached the agreement even though the court has ordered that Apostle Kingsley produces the visiting pastor.
The pastor was granted bail by Mrs. Eke- Spiff the presiding magistrate after hearing the charges read to the court while the case
was adjourned to 4th of April 2018 for further hearing.
