Police Games To Boost Anambra Economy

Anambra state is set to play host to the 12th edition of the Nigeria Police Sports Festival. The state is currently wearing a new look as venues for the sporting events are already on standby for the commencement of the games.

Apart from the sports festival proper, the Police games is expected to boost the internally generated revenue of the state as well as its tourism potentials as a lot of business concerns are springing up due to the games.

Hotels in Anambra state are currently providing shelter and cutting-edge hospitality to the officers of the Nigeria Police who are trooping in for the sports festival from the 36 states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.

In the words of the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Frank Mba, “Anambra citizens will benefit economically from the sports festival. There will be a lot of business transactions that would go on. The owners of hotels will also thrive because hotels will be booked.

“The sports festival will also be a golden opportunity for Ndi-Anambra to showcase their rich culture because there would be cultural displays in the opening and closing ceremonies of the sports festival.

“So the sports festival is providing an opportunity for growth in businesses and also showcases their commercial prowess. It will strengthen sporting facilities, introduce new games to Anambra state and increase sporting education.”

Mba also hinted that the likes of Mary Onyeali, the Olympic medallist, would be on ground to scout for new talents from Anambra state.

The noted that there was no issue with security lapses because Anambra state was equal to the task of providing water-tight security being the safest state in the country.

He said Governor Willie Obiano was not only passionate about sports infrastructure, he was also passionate about sophisticated security system, stressing that the security and safety of visitors in the state for the police games were absolutely guaranteed.
