The police authorities have promoted 83 officers and men of the Bayelsa State Police Command to different ranks. The promotion saw one Chief Superintendent of Police elevated to Assistant Commissioner of Police; five Superintendent of Police to CSP and 14 Deputy Superintendent of Police to the rank of Superintendent of Police.
In the same vein, 16 Assistant Superintendent of Police were promoted to the rank of DSP while 47 Inspectors were elevated to the rank of ASP.
Decorating the newly-promoted officers at the Police Officers Mess in Yenagoa, the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Don Awunah, said the promotion was nationwide as directed by the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris.
Awunah averred that in the history of the Nigeria Police, the current IGP had made the highest number of promotions, thanking him for finding officers and men of his command worthy of promotion.
The CP called on the newly-promoted cops to see their elevation as a professional clarion call to service.
Awunah stated, “This promotion exercise is not just for you to decorate your shoulders. It is a symbol of authority.
“This promotion must be appreciated from the context of institutional recognition, motivation for rededication and selfless commitment to duty for greater performance.
“Promotion is the hallmark of any professional reward system. You should see it as an inspiration. You should see it as a source of strength.”
