Radio Nigeria Purity Fm Awka Marks 13th Anniversary

Ahead of the 2019 general elections journalists have been charged to ensure probity, fairness and transparency  in their reportage to deepen the country’s democracy.

The first female professor of Mass Communication in Nigeria Professor Stella Okunna who gave the charge while delivering a lecture in Awka at a programme organised by Radio Nigeria Purity Fm Awka in commemoration of the station’s 13th anniversary, noted that the media have so much power to either make or mar the country’s electoral process.

The lecture with the theme: “The Role Of the Media in Promoting Probity, Fairness and Transparency in Electioneering”, attracted dignitaries including the clergy, technocrats, media organisations, top government officials and the management of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Enugu Zonal Station led by the Zonal Director, Mr Ken Ike Okere.
Furthermore, the Anambra State Government has promised to deliver a power generating set to the station to aid its broadcasting operations.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Mr Tony Nezianya, stated this while receiving an award of excellence bestowed on the Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, on the occasion.

The Governor also promised to donate a bus to the station.
