… celebrates Bayo Osiyemi At 75
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, for winning the 67th Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance.
The Governor said the award is a prestigious recognition that highlights Tems’ exceptional talent and contribution to the music industry not only in Nigeria and the African continent but also on the global stage.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, said the 29-year-old Tems has achieved a milestone with the international recognition at the 67th Grammy Award.
It would be recalled that Openiyi won the Best African Music Performance Award during the Grammy Award held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, United States, on Sunday. She emerged victorious in a fierce competition, defeating strong contenders with her love song “Love Me Jeje.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu said the award received by Tems is an affirmation of Lagos as truly the home of entertainment, creativity, tourism, culture and arts.
He said: “Temilade Openiyi once again has proved to the world that she is a creative of an uncommon talent. We thank her for bringing the Best African Music Performance Grammy back to Nigeria. As a Lagosian, we are excited with her success.
“Tems winning the 67th Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance is a confirmation that our dear Lagos State remains the hub of entertainment, creativity and tourism in the West African sub-region.
“On behalf of my family, the government, and the people of Lagos State, I congratulate Tems for achieving this great feat, and I urge her not to rest on her oars as the future remains a lot brighter than it is today.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Sanwo-Olu has rejoiced with his former Special Adviser on Chieftaincy Matters and veteran journalist, Prince Bayo Osiyemi, on his 75th birthday anniversary.
He described Prince Osiyemi, the ex-Chairman of Mushin Local Government Area and former Chief Press Secretary to the late first civilian Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, who clocks 75 on Tuesday, February 4, as an administrator who has made positive impacts in Lagos State in different capacities.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, praised Prince Osiyemi’s contributions and impacts on the media, the grassroots, and governance in the last five decades.
He said: “Prince Osiyemi is worthy of celebration not only for his contributions to the growth and development of Lagos State, particularly in the media industry, where he has displayed exceptional skills and talent as seasoned practitioner in journalism, public relations, and advertising.
“He had successfully served as Chief Press Secretary to Governor Lateef Jakande, Editor of Lagos News, Chief Executive of Penby Communications, Chairman of Mushin Local Government Area, and my Special Adviser on Chieftaincy Matters. He displayed leadership as a good administrator in all the positions he occupied.
“He was also a trusted and committed grassroots politician and public office holder, who impacted people positively, especial during his tenure as council chairman and my Special Adviser on Chieftaincy Matters.
“On behalf of my family, the people and government of Lagos State, I congratulate Prince Bayo Osiyemi on his 75th birthday celebration. I wish him good health and longer life for him to continue to serve God and humanity with his many endowments.”
