SDP Cautions Awka-North, South On Wrong Choice Of Representatives

Raymond Ozoji, Awka

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Anambra state has cautioned the people of Awka-North and South federal constituency on bad choice of representatives in this year’s general elections.

The party admonished Awka-North and South constituents to be mindful of the wiles of those currently parading themselves and seeking their mandate to represent them at the national assembly.

Senator Annie Okonkwo who represented Anambra-central senatorial district at the senate and currently functions as a stakeholder of the SDP in Anambra state gave the caution at the meeting of political leaders of Awka-North and South held in Awka on Monday.

He said Awka-North has been politically alienated due to what he described as bad representation at various levels of governance. He pointed out that of all the people seeking to represent Awka-North and South federal constituency at the Green Chambers, the candidate of the SDP for Awka-North and South Chief Godson Chukwuma Ezenagu was most qualified for the job.

Okonkwo therefore urged them not to sacrifice their welfare and well-being on the altar of pecuniary inducements but cast their votes for him because he has better understanding of the terrain especially as Awka-South has represented the constituency for sixteen years.

He also stressed the need for Awka-North and South to exercise their franchise for the SDP senatorial candidate for Anambra-central Barr.Tony Chukwuelue whom he said was more knowledgeable and experienced in legislative matters having been a legal practitioner of twenty-seven years reckoning.

According to him, other candidates were mediocres because they have little or no experience about the business of legislation especially as it concerns the senate adding that the SDP senatorial candidate would effect what he termed transformational representation in Anambra-central, if bestowed the mandate of the people.

Sen. Annie Okonkwo however boasted that he has all it takes to ensure that Awka-North and South voted for SDP candidates in next month’s general elections stressing that the people must work hard to produce their own senator and house of representatives member urging them to embark on house-to-house campaign to convince the people about the potent nature of the SDP.

He also appealed to the people of Awka-North and South to take the campaign to the villages and that they should not make the mistake of sending those he described as contractors to represent them at the national assembly as they only wallow in self-aggrandizement.

Meanwhile, candidate of the SDP for Awka-North and South federal constituency elections Chief Godson Chukwuma Ezenagu who hails from Mgbakwu in Awka-North local government area expressed worry that Awka-South has represented the constituency for sixteen years and naturally it should be the turn of Awka-North to go to the Green Chambers.

Barr.Tony Chukwuelue, candidate of the SDP for Anambra-central senatorial zone, noted that a lot of people were going about confusing the electorate and making elephantine promises but assured the people of Awka-North and South that if they voted SDP in the coming elections, the area would witness what he described as transformational representation.
