Soludo Mourns Oscar Onwudiwe, Says He Was One Of The Best And Brightest Of The Igbo Nation

By Christian Aburime

Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, former CBN Governor and Chairman, Anambra Vision 2070, has commiserated with the family of Mr Oscar Onwudiwe, the President of the Igbo Professional Group, Aka Ikenga, who passed on last week at the age of 68 years.

Prof Soludo said the news of Oscar Onwudiwe’s death came to him as a rude shock. He described the deceased as one of the most enterprising sons of Ndigbo who represents the best and brightest of the Igbo nation.

As a member of Anambra Vision 2070, Soludo said Oscar was a strategic thinker and a valuable asset whose death was particularly painful at this time when his wealth of experience and knowledge were most needed in charting an enduring economic blue-print that will make Anambra state attain the status of developed state in the next 50 years.

As the President of Aka-Ikenga, a body of Igbo Professional ‘think tank’ in Lagos, Soludo said Mr Onwudiwe provided exceptional leadership for the Association, just as he was equally very courageous and outspoken in the defense of the Igbo nation as an advocate of peace, progress and development.

He also praised him for his valuable contributions as a founding member of the League of Anambra Professionals, LAP, an association of top Igbo professionals from Anambra state.

Continuing, Prof Soludo stated that as a senior lawyer, Mr Oscar Onwudiwe employed his knowledge of law to push for the socio-economic well-being of the Igbo people as could be attested to in several of his cerebral writings and public commentaries both in the media and public space.

Soludo further added that there was no doubt that Oscar Onwudiwe was indeed a proud son of the Igbo race, stressing that the deceased unarguably represented one of the very best and brightest sons from the Igbo extraction.

Prof Soludo therefore extends his deepest condolences to the Onwudiwe’s family, his immediate community of Ogbunike, the government and people of Anambra state and Aka Ikenga including colleagues and friends of the deceased over the painful loss.

He prayed to God Almighty to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss!
