Soludo Pays Glowing Tribute To Matriarch Of Udechukwu Family

Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has paid a condolence visit to the Udechukwu family of Opuno Nnewichi, Nnewi, Anambra state over the loss of their matriarch, Princess Joy Azuamaka Udechukwu who died July 31, 2020 at the age of 86.

Soludo during the visit paid glowing tributes to the late princess who he called Adadioranma for her steadfast love, hard work and resourcefulness in keeping the family together and touching many lives positively. He stated that he appreciated the love, and friendship shared with the family over so many years.

“We are here to show honour and respect to the sweet memory of our Mother – Adadioranma and to also provide encouragement and strength to our friend, Mr. Christian Udechukwu and the entire Udechukwu family and to say: we share in your grief too.”

The Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria had earlier sent in a condolence letter which read in parts: “This is to convey my heartfelt condolences to you, your brother Emmanuel, and all the members of the family of late James Igwenmadu Udechukwu on the glorious transition of your beloved mother, Princes Joy Azuamaka Udechukwu. There is never a good time to lose a beloved one. I therefore pray God to grant you the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”

He described the late matriarch as an exemplary mother, church and community leader and a helping hand to the needy.

He further wrote: “Your consolation however must be in the fact that Adadioranma lived to a biblical ripe age of 86. She lived a long and impactful life as an exemplary mother, church and community leader, and a helping hand to the needy. Her transition therefore calls for a celebration of life well lived.

“I had the privilege of chatting with her several times and over extended periods on phone and can testify to her deep wisdom and humanity. Literarily, every sentence she made was laced with Igbo proverbs or idiom that I sometimes wondered if she spent all her life around Ndi Ichie,” he wrote. Adding that, “Nnewi and by extension Anambra state has lost a great daughter who will be missed by all.”

The Anambra 2021 gubernatorial election frontliner and hopeful prayed God to grant his friend who was also a director in charge of media and publicity during Soludo’s 2009 governorship election sojourn the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. He stated, “Our prayer is that our ever merciful God will grant her mercy and give her soul peaceful repose. Once more, please accept my condolences!”

While thanking Soludo for his visit to the family, Mr. Christian Udechukwu used the opportunity to re-echo the call from numerous groups and Ndi Anambra in general for Prof. Chukwuma Soludo to join the race for the 2021 Anambra governorship election.

“Any Anambra person genuinely interested in the development of the state should align with all the voices for Soludo to join the race as he is the best candidate for the job at this time in the state history. Soludo is for Oganiru Anambra, he should contest in 2021.”
