A Police Inspector (name withheld) was shot dead in the early hours of today at Trade Fair Complex area in Lagos State.
An online newspaper, The SUPREME, reported that about 4.45am, information was received at the station that the Station Officer (SO), was attacked at the exit gate of Trade Fair Complex by unknown gunmen.
We gathered that a team of policemen quickly rushed to the scene, but met the lifeless body of the officer on the ground, with bullet wound on his chest.
His body was said to have been moved to a military hospital at Alakija, awaiting an autopsy.
Spokesman for Lagos State Police Command Supol Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the story in an sms sent to him. He said, “The story is true, investigation is going on.”
The SUPREME could not immediately unravel what might have transpired between the attackers and the officer. We could not confirm if he was in uniform or in mufti, and what he was doing at the exit gate at that holy hour.
