Anambra State is capable of producing high capacity manpower to reposition the state over the next 50 years.
Traditional Ruler of Umunya, Igwe Kris Onyekwuluje, made the prediction while analysing a recent inauguration of Anambra Vision 2070 Development Plan Committee.
Igwe Onyekwuluje, Chairman, Traditional Rulers Council for Oyi Local Government Area, noted that giant strides attained by Gov. Willie Obiano had great potential for progress of the state.
“It stands to offer economic benefits to the society at large.”
He noted that the 50-year development plan would identify specific sectors that the state could focus on; develop measurement frameworks, as well as determine critical milestones and success factors.
“Anambra State will experience paradigm shift from political backwardness, vis-a-vis politics of calumny to politics of projection, for betterment of the people and the society.
“The vision 2070 will project Anambra to be the next to attain great heights in tourism. It is projected to surpass the height currently attained by Dubai, to make the state, the world’s best tourist centre.
“There is no doubt that the composition of membership of the committee is bi-partisan in nature.
“They are men and women with high intellectual value. They have in one way or another contributed to economic growth and development of the nation.
“Let us recall that Gov. Obiano has since commenced training of youths to change the narrative of our political history.
“The young men and women will in future deploy their wealth of knowledge in fashioning out measures to boost socio-economic approach to development.
“Indeed, Gov. Obiano is not just a leader, but visionary leader with lofty ideas to transform the nation.
“He is planning for tomorrow. Tomorrow’s success is determined today. By this vision, he has projected Anambra to make the global map,’’ Onyekwuluje said.
He commended the Government for touching every sector of the economy simultaneously, especially the health sector, through which the Government had ameliorated the sufferings of Ndi Anambra.
“Let me also commend government for marching words with action in the ongoing construction of the access roads to the International Airport City site.
“The completion of the airport city project will be a landmark achievement to attract global attention,’’ Igwe Onyekwuluje added.
He urged Ndi Anambra not to be distracted by some disgruntled individuals, who did not mean well for the state.
“I admire him, nevertheless, because he is focused on actualisation of his dreams,” he said. (MOI)
