One of such great individuals honoured by the traditional ruler of Amesi His Royal Highness Igwe Ifeanyichukwu Egbuacho with the traditional title of “Ezinwanne Amaka” was G.O.C Ezeno the President-General Akpo Development Association also fondly called “Onyenenyo” by his people. It was a carnival of sort as families, friends and well-wishers of Engr. Godwin Ezeno came to felicitate and share in the joy and jubilation that accompanied his coronation ceremony. Bestowing the honour on him, the traditional ruler of Amesi community His Royal Highness Igwe Ifeanyichukwu Egbuacho said it was in recognition of his community service, human capital development, infrastructural development, philanthropic services, meritorious service to his community and a host of other projects executed in his community and beyond, that the throne of Amesi found him worthy of the chieftaincy title.
Amidst cheering crowd, Engr. G.O.C Ezeno danced to the admiration of all and sundry shortly after his investiture while testimonies of his life-changing interventions in Amesi, Akpo and beyond poured like torrential rainfall as many a person gave credence to his magnanimity and benevolence in all ramifications of human life. The first vice president of Akpo Development Association Chief Felix Ike in his opinion said that Engr. G.O.C Ezeno merited the honour because of his kind gestures and humane attitude towards people. He said one of the most outstanding attributes of the president-general was that he deployed his personal resources to the development of Akpo community adding that in the last five years, Chief Ezeno has ensured that Akpo community grew and developed in leaps and bounds even as he attested to the fact that the President-General has successfully deployed Governor Willie Obiano’s community development funds to the overall benefit of Akpo community.
Responding to the honour done to him by Amesi community, Ezeno said the honour was a call for more commitment with the town, stressing that Ezinwanne Amaka is by extension thanking Amesi people for the opportunity to be conferred with the traditional title. According to him, people should at all times try to show love and compassion to one another while stressing that Ndigbo should endeavour to protect their culture and heritage from extinction .He also took cognisance of the fact that Ohaneze Ndigbo was doing its best to encourage people to speak their native Igbo dialect just as he disclosed that Akpo community will re-invent the old ways of carrying water pots on the head to the stream called Nwangwo even though he pointed out that the streams were drying out because people no longer go to the stream to fetch water due to the advent of pipe-borne water, boreholes and the like.
He said that Akpo community wants to go back to the culture of fetching water from the stream and that come January 1st, 2018, the entire community will carry their water pots to go and fetch water from Nwa-Ngwo stream. He said that there was need to go back to the roots and minimize contact with urbanization as it was the bane of native customs and traditions.
