The chairman Anambra Demands Soludo, Mr. Jude Okechukwu Emecheta, has queried the remote reason behind the recent assassination attempt on Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, a strong contender in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
Emecheta who was apparently traumatized by the assassination attempt on the former CBN governor in his country home Isuofia Aguata local government area sought to know what sin Prof. Soludo committed to warrant plot to end his life?
Emecheta, who spoke with our correspondent in Awka in an emotion-laden voice on the sad development, said Soludo did not offend anyone by nursing the ambition to become the next governor on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
He said ever since Prof. Soludo made his gubernatorial ambition public, he became the subject matter of every discussion even among co-aspirants.
Emecheta said he was not surprised that Soludo was the topic of discussion because other aspirants saw him as a big threat to their aspirations which he said was the very reason for all kinds of sinister moves and malevolent plots to truncate his ambition.
He said, “A lot of aspirants are looking at how to make money from the markets for their selfish personal interest. Others have the impression that if Soludo becomes the next governor they will not go back to the House of Reps. We know them because they are being selfish about the whole thing.
“We have told them if you go to the Primaries and lose, please don’t disrupt the system. Accept the result in good faith because APGA is one family,” Emecheta advised.
He said some people held the opinion that Prof. Soludo was not a grassroots man but according to him, the ex-CBN governor contested election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2010. Though he didn’t scale through, he joined APGA and helped to build the party.
The Anambra Demands Soludo boss held that Soludo has plans to make Anambra a cooperative outfit where every facet of the economy will tap into the resources of the state to help in creating more wealth and opportunities for all and sundry.
He said people should stop pulling Soludo down because he already has the blueprint of how he intends to make Anambra state a smart city, if he becomes the next governor.
Emecheta however believes that the opposition is scared of Soludo and his being the cynosure is a welcome development because whenever his antagonists discuss him, they discuss a potential governor, adding that only Soludo can successfully manage the international cargo airport, the international conference centre as well as other legacy projects of the Willie Obiano administration.
