A stalwart of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Anambra state and an ardent promoter of Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s gubernatorial ambition, Mr. Jude Emecheta, says it is now an open secret that Governor Willie Obiano is strongly supporting Soludo’s aspiration to become the next governor.
NewsProbe reports that Emecheta said it was erroneous for rumour mongers to hold the opinion that the federal lawmaker representing Anambra-East and West constituency Hon. Chinedu Obidigwe was actually bringing Prof. Soludo out to run for the office of the governor. He said such was blatant falsehood; that Governor Willie Obiano was solidly behind the former CBN governor because he believes he would take Anambra state to the next level of development.
Emecheta said Soludo remained the best man for the job. He said the former CBN governor was lucky to have received the governor’s endorsement and blessings.
He said, “The man who is supporting Soludo to run this election is His Excellency Governor Willie Obiano not Chinedu Obidigwe. Chinedu Obidigwe is just an apostle. He saw the body language of the governor and he keyed in. Soludo is lucky that the governor is supporting him. We have checked and found out that Soludo is the best man to take over from Governor Willie Obiano not these ones who are still changing their pampers.”
Emecheta also clarified the issue of Chinedu Obidigwe eyeing the Deputy Governor’s office, saying that those were antics of empty barrels peddling unverified information. He added that Anambra state has always balanced the seat of power; that Chinedu Obidigwe is a Catholic while Soludo too is a Catholic and as such both of them cannot run.
According to him, “APGA is conscious that you must balance religious equation in the governance of Anambra state. I must say that Governor Willie Obiano is not against an Anglican becoming the next governor; that even if Soludo was an Anglican, he would still support him to run and win the election.”
He was however emphatic that Chinedu Obidigwe was rather more interested in returning to the Federal House of Representatives for a second term in office and not the purported Deputy Governor position, stressing that those were the wiles and deceits of disgruntled elements bent on creating confusion and rancour in the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Emecheta said he believes Prof. Soludo would take Anambra state to greater heights because he has the credentials, experience and technical know-how to make Anambra state the industrial hub of the entire nation where job and wealth creation would be the bedrock of his administration.
